Most of the manufacturing firms that were present in Punjab have shifted to neighboring states. In addition to that, the IT sector is still in its embryo stage and such scenarios have left the youth of the state in a terrible condition. According to many reports, each year, more than 1.25 lakh youngsters migrate from Punjab to other countries. The migration of the youth has reached a point where many villages of Punjab have an older population than the younger population. If the trend continues, soon Punjab will become a state with a high old population.
The youth in Punjab are highly skilled and educated, but they struggle to find jobs that match their qualifications. As a result, many of them are forced to migrate to other states in search of employment. The most popular destination for Punjab's youth is the National Capital Region (NCR) around Delhi.
