This project will supply rural communities in one of the poorest regions of Guinea Bissau with the tools they need to reduce poverty, water-borne diseases and increase gender equality and social empowerment. The project will install clean water wells, build latrines, establish market gardens and train young people and women on how to maintain these resources and take ownership of their community's development. Your donations will play a vital role in transforming the lives of these people.

Challenge

Anopoco, Eticunda, Acuminca, Etinghoure and Ancano: 5 villages in the most remote regions of Guinea Bissau. People here walk for hours every day to access water sources, often sharing them with animals. Why? Because they have no alternative. The water often makes people sick. Residents also experience malnutrition and lack of gender equality. People here are in dire need of these basic human needs and wish to work with WellFound. With your help we can transform the lives of over 1,200 people.

Long-Term Impact

Access to basic sanitation and clean drinking water allows people to live without the heavy burdens of water-borne diseases and the need to spend hours a day fetching water, allowing them to move out of poverty, access education and employment. Market gardens owned and maintained by women increases food security and gender equality. Our staff remain available for training and support for three years so that communities can continue the work, ensuring truly sustainable and lasting development.
