Unemployment in Haryana
This Problem
needs your help
Region: Haryana
Haryana is facing a serious unemployment problem, according to CMIE, as it has a nearly three times more unemployment rate than the national average. The unemployment rate in Haryana rose to 28.7 percent in August 2019, which is the highest in the country, UNEMPLOYMENT has reached an alarming point which, along with the population growth, tends to threaten social peace, economic growth, and the political fabric of the country.
One of the main reasons for unemployment in Haryana is the mismatch between the skills possessed by the job seekers and the skills required by the industries. Many of the job seekers in Haryana are not adequately skilled or trained to meet the demands of the job market, which has led to a high rate of underemployment. More people are seeking employment but not as many people are finding employment. Investment conditions have been weak. New investment into large and modern enterprises is important to absorb the rising working-age population into the labor markets.
Firstly, it exists due to the lack or absence of employment opportunities. Second, it is because of the current level of employability of job seekers. This is to say that the unemployability of the job aspirants due to the lack of desired or required skill also leads to such problems. Third, if the quality of jobs available is commensurate to the skill or education level of the job seekers. Remember, the offer and advice of the government to the graduate youths/professionals to ‘fry pakoras’ in the streets. The cruder joke with the highly educated youths of Haryana (MA, MSc, BTech, MBA, etc) was to recruit them as Group-D employees (peons, sewadars, water carriers, etc). The shameless trumpeting by the government that this recruitment was based on merit rubbed salt into their wounds. Four, it is the disguised unemployment more particularly in the agriculture sector that is even more deleterious. There are many factors that contribute to creating an atmosphere due to which the job market sinks or flourishes.
