Women Palante is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing opportunities for low and middle-income Latinx women and children, a historically marginalized group, to start and grow their own businesses. We support and mentor women as they develop their unique business plans and launch their companies as Irma, a mexican mother immigrant, came to D.C with a lot of expectations about the American dream. She found in WomenPalante a "family" to develop her business and wellness.
Challenge
Gender equality and the empowerment of women-two complex issues that strike at the very core of the pandemic, which has put pressure on women as primary caregivers. Due to this, women find in entrepreneurship a way to OVERCOME those challenges while allowing them to continue their professional careers. It gets even worse when looking for access to quality wellness and health, becoming two urgent economic and social justice imperatives, especially for Latina women and their children.
Long-Term Impact
Educate women to create economic development with their business by bringing not only food and income sources, but job opportunities and breaking the gap of gender inequality. Our holistic curriculum will allow women to learn how to create a business and to establish pristine health and wellness for themselves and their families. Further, the fact that their children take place in a similar creation of a small business at the same time.
