The goal of this project is to improve LuiJay's life by undergoing surgery. LuiJay is already in Grade 7 and resides in Eastern Samar, Philippines. He was born with Hirschsprung's Disease, a condition that affects the colon and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby's colon. This will cover the expenses for his surgery, consultations, and other expenses related to the procedure.
Challenge
After birth, The child had difficulty passing out feces which led to a bloated stomach and skin discoloration. As per the attending physician of the child, a surgical operation is necessary being the only remedy. The family has high hopes of pursuing further medical evaluation, and diagnostic tests to push through the operation as the child is uncomfortable with his situation, especially regarding interpersonal development.
Long-Term Impact
LuiJay will have more opportunities to live a better life as a result of his surgery.
