The Gaza Strip has an area of 365 km2,and is inhabited by more than 2 million people, with a population density of 5,453 people /km2,the highest in the world. Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed hundreds, injured thousands, and displaced tens of thousands. The Hope Foundation of Palestine Team in Gaza is ready to provide emergency aid to poor and needy families with children either directly or by creating projects that employ parents.

Challenge

The illegal blockade of the Gaza strip by Israel and Egypt crippled the population of Gaza. Israeli attacks continue to devastate such population. Adding Covid 19 to this and the people of Gaza are in true humanitarian crisis at all aspects of life, housing, water, electricity, and food. Unemployment is the biggest challenge. For young people (18-24 years of age), 64 percent among females and 33 percent among males. Overall unemployment in the Gaza strip is currently over 50%.

Long-Term Impact

Our immediate focus will be on the needs of the children this winter. However, projects that will employ the unemployed young, single parents in particular females, unemployed parents will help lift such families out of poverty is a long-term goal. These projects will be fully funded by the foundation, once successful, the whole project will be handed over to such family(s). These families will become the owners of a small project that will support their families for years to come.
