This project will support 430 children with cancer and their parents living in Colombia. Funcolombiana will provide information about the disease and education about their rights to health. Also psychological support, art therapy workshops for children in chemotherapy, and monthly cards for transportation or food, for 70 vulnerable families with lower income.

Challenge

The Colombian health system has suffered a crisis in recent years, despite the existence of the Childhood Cancer Law, many children suffer delays in attention due to administrative barriers. Most families do not know the law and their rights, therefore, this project will provide education and psychosocial support.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project will be reflected in the reduction of barriers to access to medical care and therefore in greater compliance with the law for all children with cancer in the country. The 430 children will have a strong support network to allow them to face the process of treatment and recovery of in a more positive way. Families will have a better understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of their children, their self-care and their rights and duties in health matters.
