Sri Lanka is in the midst of a social and economic crisis - a crisis that has hit the health care system still recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Families are struggling to meet even basic needs securing enough food, fuel and medicine for their families. Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration is launching a Humanitarian Appeal in support of our partners in Sri Lanka. One Hundred percent (100%) of funds raised will go to our partners to purchase much needed medical supplies.
Challenge
Families are struggling to meet even basic needs securing enough food, fuel and medicine for their families. Our colleagues in Sri Lanka have told us that hospitals are critically short of medical supplies and in urgent need. "We see shortages of all medical items," says Dr. Thanenthiran Antony, a surgeon in Jaffna. "This is because of lack of foreign currency to import medical items from oversees. Sri Lanka is a country which depends on overseas for almost all medical items."
Long-Term Impact
Since 2017, Two Worlds Cancer has provided in-kind support to develop specialized palliative care programs for both Northern Province and Eastern Province. Two Worlds Cancer volunteers provide online palliative care education, mentorship and support for health care providers in collaboration with our partners at the Hyderabad Centre for Palliative Care in India. It's relationships that make a difference at times like these. Please help us, help our partners in Sri Lanka today.
