One million internally displaced people living in Shire, Tigray, Ethiopia. Among them are unaccompanied children under 12 year old. The children have been traumatised and abused. Abraham's Oasis was asked to provide shelter for unaccompanied children for at least one year. We have the capacity and the capability and manpower to do this activity.

Challenge

On 4th November, 2020 conflict between local and federal governments led to chaos that has caused fear and panic among the rural communities and most have fled to towns where they felt safer. Currently one million people are staying in schools and colleges in Shire town in North-western Zone of Tigray Region in Northern Ethiopia. Among this population are unaccompanied underage children identified in the internally displaced people sites.

Long-Term Impact

The 50 abused children are provided with counselling and re-stabilised and reunited with their families with assisted re-integratetion within traumatised families and communities.
