Give the gift of freedom and education to girls and boys trapped in slavery. Your support helps families find and free children they've sent away, bring them home and enroll them in school and keeps so many more children from ever becoming enslaved in the first place.
Challenge
There just aren't enough schools in rural Haiti and those that do exist are often too expensive. Parents who can't afford to send their children to school often send them away to the city to live with a family they don't know in the hopes the family will send the child to school in exchange for a little housework. Instead these children are often enslaved, forced to work every waking hour and subject to abuse and humiliation. About 250,000 children are trapped in this form of modern-day slavery.
Long-Term Impact
Children who would otherwise be trapped in slavery grow up at home, in communities where they are loved, protected and educated. Communities are equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources they need to stop the flow of their children into slavery. Schools can deliver more affordable, higher quality instruction to students. Education programming prepares students to build better lives and stronger communities in which all people can live free from extreme poverty and exploitation.
