Sari Janaparh envisions the development of B&Bs, biking, unique culinary experiences, handicraft products, other activities. This campaign aims to raise money for B&B in Tavush village, Berd. Varduhi is a carpet weaver and she dreams to renovate her house and make it a cozy B&B with a carpet weaving training room to teach different techniques of carpet making. Varduhi is a cancer survivor and can no longer weave herself but she wants to pass her knowledge to new generations.
Challenge
For almost a decade now, tourism has been considered one of the priorities of the RA economic development. In the last few years Berd region has seen limited progress in recreational and touristic trail development projects. Consequently, the potential of the region as a trail tourism destination remains largely unknown and entirely unexploited. There is no sustainable economic growth provided by local businesses and therefore expansion into a new sector.
Long-Term Impact
The eastern part of Tavush province known as Shamshadin shows great potential as a trail tourism destination, set on the dramatic northeastern edge of the Lesser Caucasus mountain range and criss-crossed by a network of historic footpaths and dirt roads between villages and cultural heritage sites. A long-distance trail connecting existing trails in neighbouring areas of Tavush and Gegharkunik to Shamshadin would expand access to and awareness of the region as part of Armenia's growing recreatio
