We encourage youth to learn & stand up for two important peace & security issues: nuclear disarmament and climate activism. We will bring a group of youth to the 2nd meeting of the Nuclear Ban Treaty in New York, publish an inter-disciplinary journal examining connections between nuclear disarmament, environmental security, racial justice, and gender equity; and launch the "Docuseries"creative writing and art zine for First Nations young activists in Canada.

Challenge

Lack of public solidarity & political will left the world with two inter-generational problems: thousands of nuclear bombs & worsening climate change. Reverse the Trend brings education, activism, & art together to engage youth, especially from impacted communities, to be part of the debate and problem solving at the grassroots & the diplomatic level. Creating direct opportunities for young people to observe, learn, & participate changes the power structure and inspires them to be at the table.

Long-Term Impact

As a long-term impact, we will establish a network for youth from affected communities and opportunities for youth to share their experiences and views about the twin existential threats facing humanity, influence the policymakers and hold them accountable for their actions. Ultimately, advocacy, activism, and accountability will help to reverse the trend.
