We've recently learnt of the plight of our local hospitals during the COVID-19 crisis. We have seen pictures of mothers lying on the floor during labour or waiting days for a C-section, which causes many risks for the mothers and babies. Through this project, we'd like to purchase mattresses and blankets for the many expectant moms queuing the passages waiting to deliver their babies.

Challenge

There are hundreds of labouring moms in overcrowded wards of the public hospitals in our city. Due to a shortage of medical staff during this COVID-19 pandemic, many of these mothers are being left to labour on their own, or are well over their due dates and still waiting for their C-Sections. Many women are sleeping on the floors in these hospitals while in labour.

Long-Term Impact

We hope to build on this project by providing the 100 mattresses and eventually supply the hospital with more beds for their maternity and labour wards.
