Over 1000 brave men & women risk their lives daily to protect wild tigers & their fragile forest home. They endure extreme weather conditions & risk attack by wild animals, & the humans who encroach into the forest. These brave anti-poaching patrols walk 1000s of miles day & night each year to remove snares & quench forest fires which threaten the lives of endangered wild tigers, elephants, pangolin & other animals too. We need to equip & protect our patrols so they can keep wild tigers safe!
Challenge
Between 2010-2016 we provided critical equipment for the anti-poaching patrols protecting wild tigers. Much of this essential equipment is worn out due to extensive use & needs urgent replacement. Since 2020 we've been replacing worn out uniforms, boots, warm jackets, etc., but many patrollers still need to replace worn out critical equipment. We need to equip 250 patrol camps with essential equipment & provide warm & waterproof clothing for 1000 patrollers so they have the protection they need.
Long-Term Impact
When anti-poaching patrols have adequate essential equipment they are able to protect wild tigers & other endangered animals including elephants, pangolin, Indian Gaur, leopards, etc., without being hampered by adverse weather conditions, illness or risks to their lives from lethal snake bites. Protected patrollers are motivated to perform their duties well & as we buy all the equipment from local suppliers they are less likely to turn to poaching or the forest for a source of income.
