The project aims to promote women's leadership role in development in the face of extremism and conflict in KP. Women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making processes in all most every sector. Facts and findings in the education, health and employment sectors show that women needs and challenges are not being sufficiently addressed, because the majority of the leadership is male-dominated. This project will invest in building & strengthening women's leadership.
Challenge
Gross violations of women's rights are routinely observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. Most women in these areas are dependent and do not have the liberty to freely play their role in developmental processes due to cultural and social constraints. Women's issues prevail largely due to the alarmingly limited number of women in leadership roles. This does not mean that women do not have the capacity to lead but rather that there is no existing support system.
Long-Term Impact
1) Women's Voices Pakistan is training & connecting women across Pakistan for building a national level women's collation. 2) Women's Voices Pakistan is actively highlighting & promoting women's role in social, economic & political development through publishing their stories & articles. 3) Policymakers & development counterparts understand the issues & perspectives of average women & women leaders in conflict resolution & peacebuilding process.
