This project is about building 100 homes for 100 widows and needy families in Buganda Commune. Building shelters for widows and needy families, survivors of the war in Burundi, will help reduce the expansion of AIDS and the mortality occasioned by the present conditions of their living.

Challenge

During the war that escalated in Burundi in 1993, over 2,000 houses in Hindaniro-Ruhagarika village were destroyed. During the war, many people were killed, survivors lost all their belongings and fled to Congo (DRC). Those who came back in their village had a desire to rebuild their houses, but widows and needy families the most affected became homeless.

Long-Term Impact

Over 700 children, women and men made by orphans, widows and people from needy families of Hindaniro-Ruhagarika Village will benefit/get permanent homes and their conditions of living will be totally improved and live in peace and security. A home is one of the most important things that contribute to the good living of a human being.
