This project will provide ongoing after school tutoring, personal development and extracurricular activities to 70 orphans and youth-at-risk to improve their grades, develop hobbies and interests to improve their life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential; therefore, moving them from predicament and poverty towards stability and self-sufficiency.
Challenge
Children living in orphanages suffer from an inadequate educational support and lack of higher educational opportunities that contributes to a very small number of children doing well in primary school, especially attending college. Currently, the country where they live faces approximately 46% unemployment rate; therefore, their chances for employment are bleak unless we give them access to better education, life skills, vocational training and personal development programs.
Long-Term Impact
We will cultivate better educated and equipped young people to become active and self-reliant citizens in their country that otherwise could be a burden to the society. We believe that the path to lasting peace in the Balkans is through a robust civil society and our programs make possible for Bosnia's future innovators, teachers, policymakers and workers to succeed beyond their current expectations.
