Welfare for Animals Guild Rwanda is the only organisation working exclusively to help street dogs in Rwanda. Through our Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome model, using foster homes and our small shelter space, rescued dogs receive food, veterinary care, love and socialisation until they are adopted. We also do emergency rescue work and carry out community spays and neuters. The core of our mission is that every dog, regardless of age, breed or sex receives equal investment of resources and care.

Challenge

Stray and abandoned dogs are a huge problem in Kigali. Welfare of these dogs is extremely poor, and many of them suffer from abuse and are at risk of being poisoned or shot. They can also spread rabies, a huge public health concern. WAG is working hard to provide a humane and sustainable solution to these issues. However, with more stray and abandoned dogs needing help than ever before, we urgently need regular funds to sustain the vital work we do.

Long-Term Impact

Your support today enables us to continue the core work we do on a daily basis. We always have bills to pay and dogs to rescue! Money raised here will go towards our rescue dogs' veterinary care, our shelter operational costs, and our rescue and community outreach operations. Sustaining these are at the core of what we do, and we are so grateful for your support!
