Life Lifters Kenya educates, trains, and empowers high-achieving teenage girls from rural communities in Kenya. We work with underprivileged girls whose last hope for a better future is education. By offering scholarships, resources (such as sanitary towels), and training in leadership and sexual reproductive health, we transform girls' lives and position them to succeed anywhere in the world. We would love to incubate 20 more girls
Challenge
Approximately 13,000 teenage girls in Kenya drop out of school annually because of pregnancy. In 2020 alone, more than 6,000 teenage girls in Nandi county had fallen pregnant and an estimated 20,000 teens had dropped out of school by the end of the year. According to global statistics, only 39% of rural girls attend secondary school compared to (45%) rural boys, (59%) urban girls, and (60%) urban boys.
Long-Term Impact
We hope to inspire and build an educated community that understands the power and importance of education. For so long teenage girls have fallen off the wagon because of teenage pregnancy. An investment in their education and training in sexual reproductive health and leadership gives girls the voice, knowledge, and power to take control of their future and that of their families
