This project will contribute to improving the living conditions for children with special needs in the Aida and Al Azza refugees camps in Bethlehem, Palestine and will benefit more than 150 children through rehabilitation work such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, osteopathy, a mental health program, autism class and a focus on children with learning difficulties.
Challenge
According to a survey conducted in 2016 by the Noor Foundation, there are more than 150 children with special needs in the Palestinian refugee camps (Downs syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy). Over 70% are in the 12-25 age group and from economically disadvantaged. Our health center has the basic equipment but there are still needs to meet and challenges to overcome in order to expand the service and achieve a higher level of operational performance.
Long-Term Impact
The first stage of the project is aimed at benefitting more than 150 families living in the refugee camps in Aida and Alazza camp in occuppied Palestine. We aim to provide direct assistance to the families of children with special needs, an improvement of the living conditions of the children and their families - and provide rehabilitation sessions for children with special needs: speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, and a special focus on children with Downs syndroms
