The problem of homeless people is a reality that is not alien and that is constantly growing in Spain, particularly for women. This Opportunity Home in Madrid and with a space for 8 people, aims to offer temporary accommodation and comprehensive support to women at risk of socio-residential exclusion. We seek to promote their empowerment with a rights perspective, through a comprehensive approach, contemplating their physical, mental and emotional health to give ththem a new chance at life.

Challenge

It is estimated that 19% of people living on the streets in Spain are women, and they are often more exposed to violence and assaults. The population we work with usually arrives with health problems, or having suffered violence, or are applying for international protection, with little or no family support or employment. This is why it's urgent to provide a housing solution and specialized support, to contribute to their personal, emotional and social stabilization and help them get ahead.

Long-Term Impact

This project is part of a long-term social reintegration process, since it works comprehensively to resolve not only the housing and documentation situation, but also seeks to empower the participants through academic training, possible insertion work, counting on constant accompaniment, to promote their autonomy. The impact is also not only on them but also indirectly on their families, their social circles and the community in general.
