Free a Girl fights sexual exploitation of children (SEC). Since 2008, we have rescued over 6000 minor girls. We investigate potential cases, conduct rescue raids with local police and provide immediate aftercare, such as safe shelter, counseling, and medical care, but also education and vocational training. With your help, we will do absolutely everything we can to rescue these girls, help them recover, fight for justice, and put every exploiter behind bars.

Challenge

In India around 1.2 million underage girls are currently victims of sex trafficking. Since exploiters are rarely ever prosecuted in India, child trafficking is a lucrative business. Without proper punishment, the industry will continue to thrive. Impunity is a huge and multifaceted problem; victims are ashamed and won't press charges, court cases are a bureaucratic hurdle, and when you don't know much about the system it's hard to fight for justice or change.

Long-Term Impact

Rescuing minors from SEC has an enormous impact on their lives. Immediate and long-term aftercare prevents revictimization. The constant rescue raids and prosecution of perpetrators help dismantle trafficking networks and increasing the risk for exploiters to be put in jail. Additionally, our efforts brings the issue to the forefront for law enforcement and officials and increases their willingness to hold exploiters accountable and work to end the sexual exploitation of girls in India.
