Yo quiero Yo puedo (IMIFAP) will reduce school dropout, improve the quality of education, school performance, promote a healthy lifestyle and improve opportunities for marginalized children and teenagers. This will be done in different states in Mexico through diverse efforts and programs that are focused on education and life skills.

Challenge

In Mexico, less than 60% of teenagers ages 15 to 19 years are enrolled in school. Less than 40% of sexually active teenagers use protection and teen pregnancies have increased in the last years. Nowadays, Mexico is the leading country in childhood obesity and holds second place in adult obesity. Almost, 50% of women over the age of 15 have been victims of gender based violence. 58% of the population ages 15 to 74 years is unemployed.

Long-Term Impact

Our programs have managed to reduce school drop out rates by 24%, which has a direct positive impact on the lives of the children, teenagers and their families. They're also achieving good results in the promotion of life skills, with children, teenagers and their families learning to take care of themselves, be responsible, create opportunities for better living conditions, and to become agents of change of their own lives and communities .
