This project will benefit children and teenagers in Medellin, who were born with Down Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy. The objective is to enable beneficiaries to develop personal and social skills that facilitate their training process and social adaptation through specialized therapeutic processes, speech therapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, adequate stimulation, music therapy, occupational therapy, neuro psychology and psychology.

Challenge

The crisis in the Colombian Health Social Security System, has impact on vulnerable people who despite being affiliated in a health regime is victim of a system with structural faults; unresponsive effective way to their vital needs. Thats why we seek to benefit children and youth diagnosed with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy requiring rehabilitation and also help their families to overcome the lack of ability to pay for specialized care that improves their quality of life.

Long-Term Impact

The project will directly benefit children and teenagers and indirectly their families, as it will allow them to develop skills for learning (attention, perception, understanding) and social development (autonomy, identity, managing emotions, expressive skills). We will provide the means and resources needed to achieve adequate development, while promoting family and social integration, seeking to achieve the maximum degree of autonomy and independence.
