14 children and teenagers between 3 and 15 years old with Bifida Spine diagnosis require integral treatment for diagnosis management and the recovery of the neurologic function, besides working with their families, looking to improve life quality in health, education, enabling, recreation and integration level.


Challenge

Spina bifida is a condition of the spine and is usually noticeable at the time of birth. This type of neural tube defect (NTD) can appear anywhere in the spine, as it does not form as it should be. damage to the spinal cord and nerves. This is why the disease in children sometimes causes physical and intellectual disabilities, ranging from mild to severe, as well as symptoms, where there are generally needs for assistive devices, such as braces, crutches or wheelchairs

Long-Term Impact

The project will benefit 14 children and adolescents and will indirectly enable their families to carry out an therapeutic accompaniment to the disease. Live in family groups where they are characterized mostly by the absence of the father figure and their mothers are responsible for providing all household needs, in other groups it is evident that they are families where not only live dad, mom and siblings but also other consanguineous, increasing health problems, and overcrowding in homes.
