St. George's Society of New York's Scholarship Program provides critical financial aid to final-year college students who have achieved excellent academic standing, but due to financial hardship are unable to complete their final year of undergraduate studies.

Challenge

Higher education serves as an engine of social mobility and economic growth. Fewer than 60% of US college students who enroll, end up graduating. Many are defeated by the high cost of tuition. Research shows that when financial barriers are removed for high-achieving, low-income students, they succeed at the same or higher rates than their peers.

Long-Term Impact

Since the establishment of the Scholarship Program in 2008, SGSNY has served more than 400 scholars totaling over $1 million in financial aid. With our recent expansion to CUNY institutions across all 5 NYC boroughs, we can begin closing the education and opportunity gap; thereby ensuring the success and future of tomorrow's leaders.
