The GLK Student Fund gives scholarships to send bright, motivated yet vulnerable Tanzanian children to school. Most of our students are orphans who do not have means to attend a decent school. With a great education, these students will have the opportunity to flourish and find careers contributing to the community. Help us send them to a school where they can grow intellectually in a safe environment.

Challenge

In Tanzania, many of the public schools are extremely poor. Diligent pupils try to get an education, but are not successful. Because of the poor education at the primary schools, few pupils qualify to go on for high school. About 5% of primary students go on to secondary school, and those who continue have a high failure rate. Unfortunately, high-quality primary schools charge fees that are beyond the reach of most students, especially the many HIV/AIDS orphans left without family support.

Long-Term Impact

By sponsoring a child's education, you can help a young student realize his or her dream of a decent education and of becoming a self-sufficient, contributing member of the community. Many of our older scholarship students have prepared for and now enjoy careers in teaching, nursing, tourism, and various trades which give back to the community in a meaningful way.
