Brescianello is a very special discovery for La Serenissima. We know little about his life, but his music is of outstanding quality, reflecting pan-European influences. We will record Volume 2 of his Opus 1 in February 2022 - creating work for our team after more than a year of restricted activity. We look to followers to support the post-production work needed to release this second album of the project & in doing so, help us to maintain connection with our audience.
Challenge
Brescianello wrote outstanding music and yet he is an 'unknown' composer. Very few works have been performed in modern times & there are precious few recordings of his music of any quality in circulation. Without high-calibre advocates for his music, his chance of reaching new audiences is limited. In addition, La Serenissima faces huge obstacles to live performance since the Covid-19 crisis. Recordings look to be the main way we can reach audiences & provide employment as the UK recovers.
Long-Term Impact
Music enriches life. Italian baroque music embodies some of the most accessible music in the classical canon: Brescianello is no exception to this. In championing his music, we aim to trigger a reevaluation of the composer's legacy and give more listeners access to this truly uplifting music. In releasing the second album of Brescianello Op 1, we can share this amazing music more widely whilst continuing to create work for our artists who have faced great difficulties over recent months.
