Hurricane Ian made landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast as a dangerous Category 4 hurricane - battering communities across Florida. The damage is still being assessed but so far millions of people are without power and many are displaced from their homes. Airlink is currently working with our NGO and airline partners to provide immediate needs for those affected by Hurricane Ian. Those needs include: response teams focused on home repair, clean-up, WASH, medical assistance, and more.
Challenge
Hurricane Ian produced 'catastrophic storm surge' with an 'extremely dangerous eyewall' moving onshore. 1.75 million people faced evacuation orders, torrential rains, flooding and record storm surges in Naples and Fort Myers left over 2.5 million people without power across the state. Search and rescue operations are underway. The need is expected to grow as the full extent of the damage continues to be assessed.
Long-Term Impact
Airlink has extensive experience responding to hurricanes over our organization's history. Airlink provided airlift for immediate response and long-term recovery efforts for both Hurricanes Irma (2017) and Michael (2018) that affected this region. Your donation supports both rapid response and longer-term recovery operations for multiple relief partners for as long as their need exists.
