We want to make it possible for students from low-income families with the desire to build careers as health professionals to do so. This project seeks to grant academic scholarships to students of the Nursing and Emergency Medical Technician programs at the Mexican Red Cross School in the state of Nuevo Leon. These young people have the desire to help their communities and be the first generation in their families to obtain a professional degree.
Challenge
Education is a means of achieving a decent livelihood, professional achievement, and serving others. However, the economic conditions that prevail in many Mexican households prevent thousands of young people to have the opportunity to start and / or continue their studies. This is why at the Mexican Red Cross we firmly believe that providing academic scholarships is an excellent way to encourage young people to have a better future and contribute to the development of society.
Long-Term Impact
It is estimated that there are 476,000 nursing professionals in Mexico serving a population of more than 127 million people. That translates into 3.9 nurses for every thousand individuals, which is well below the recommendation of the PAHO of at least 6 nursing professionals for every thousand people. Joining this cause represents contributing to positively shape the lives of numerous health professionals who will be readily available and willing to contribute their skills and passion to serve
