This project is to provide food for lunch at 15 primary schools in rural area of Burkina Faso. Food is a very important factor in the child development and a very strong motivator to attend school. For many of the 3.750 children of those 15 schools, food is scares at home. The lunch program of rice, beans, oil and salt is essential for those kids.

Challenge

In rural area of Burkina Faso even so people are farmers there is a shortage of food due to bad rainy season and impoverish fields. There is often only one meal per day, specially this year. Distance between home and school are often several kilometres, making it difficult for pupils to go back home for lunch in case there is food at home. Children attending primary school are between 6 and 15 years old. The rate of scholing is between 60 and 80% only.

Long-Term Impact

Education is the basis of all development. If more children get good results they have a better chance to go further their studies. In the villages 50% of the population is under 14 years old!!! The village economy cannot support them all and some will have to go out of the villages. Having the possibility to get educated will be a strong plus for those children.
