ATREVETE en Peru (Go for it in Peru) is an initiative to empower Venezuelan migrants and refugees through employment services and personal growth, administrative support for visas and solidarity grants. It will provide emotional support to migrant and refugee children and it will improve the social and economic prosperity of the Venezuelan community in Peru.

Challenge

Over 1.2 million Venezuelan citizens migrated to Peru in 2018-2019, due to the severe economic and social crisis their country faces. Their best option to stabilize their situation and improve their quality of life is to apply for a "Migratory Status Change", from tourist to resident worker. To this end, Venezuelan citizens need to find a formal and stable job (with a contract of at least 12 months) and start this procedure before their tourist visa (with a maximum duration of 183 days) expires.

Long-Term Impact

In the long-run, the project will have a positive impact on the lives of 950 Venezuelan migrants and refugees by supporting them in securing formal jobs through our employment services, which in turn will improve the living standards of both the adults and their children. Moreover, 150 child migrants and refugees will have improved their emotional well-being. As a result, the project will not only benefit the Venezuelan community, but also the Peruvian society and its economy in general.
