The idea of the project is to conduct free surgeries in Union of Health Work Committees' (UHWC) health facilities for about 100 children of patients registered on the waiting lists in the Ministry of Health (MoH) out of 3000 registered patients, who are waiting for their turn for a period that may exceed 12 months due to the deterioration in the health services provided in the MoH as a result of the unjust siege, repeated Israeli military escalations and Palestinian political internal division.
Challenge
The children of the Gaza Strip face tremendous challenges and needs to continue their lives and grow healthily in light of the acute shortage of resources, on top of their needs is the access to health care services, which has recently declined due to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip , mainly the scheduled surgeries in the MoH, which were stopped due to the accumulation of humanitarian crises, which puts the lives of children at risk.
Long-Term Impact
Children have the right to grow naturally, which is one of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Therefore, implementing the project and conducting surgeries for the needy children who are registered on waiting lists at the MoH will contribute to the recovery of children from their diseases, which contributes to stabilizing their psychological situation. Consequently, it will positively affect their educational attainment.
