We will provide early stimulation and nutritional attention for indigenous girls and boys between 0 and 4 years of age, of limited resources and in high risk situations. With the project we seek to contribute to a healthy development of the cognitive and physical functions. Also, we will provide them with birth certificates and help them to enroll in preschool.
Challenge
The first stage of life is crucial for the development of physical and mental functions. Chiapas is the state with the second highest rate of malnutrition and associated diseases. More than 20% of children less than 6 years old dont have a birth certificate, leaving them unable to exercise other rights like education and access to health services. 41% of the children in Chiapas between 3 and 5 years old do not attend preschool, decreasing the probability of attending primary school.
Long-Term Impact
Annually, 30 boys and girls between 0 and 4 years old will: a) attain motor skills and nutritional development in accordance with their age; b) attain the verbal, written, and physical skills for expression in accordance with their age; c) integrate their cognitive abilities and other skills in accordance with their age and; d) strengthen their self-esteem and identity. Also, we will help obtain birth certificates for 100 indigenous children annually.
