Only 10% of Nigerians have access to health insurance, widows and orphans have to make out-of-pocket payments which is more expensive; as a result they have limits access to health care. For only $50 Health Insurance premium A widow and her orphans can access to basic health care, surgical care and eye care. WEWE project requires $50,000 to provide 200 widows and their orphans in Abuja, Nigeria. Donate today to give 200 widows and their orphans improved access to healthcare and save lives.

Challenge

The problem is limited access to health insurance in Nigeria. Only 30% of Nigerians have health insurance (Alex E. Asakitikpi 2019). The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS 2014) says 71.67% of Nigerians rely on out-of-pocket payments for health care, which requires cash at hand and is expensive. As a result the hardest hit are poor widows and their orphan and vulnerable children and as a result, they have limited access to quality health care.

Long-Term Impact

The potential long term impact of providing annual health insurance for 200 widows and their orphan and vulnerable children are listed below 1.Improved access to quality health care 2.Reduction in the use of out-of-pocket funds for the payment of hospital bills 3. It will save the lives of widows and orphans because it will increase their life span 4. It will improve the quality of life and standard of living for 200 widows and orphans
