EMERGENCY IN HAITI. THE COUNTRY IS ON THE VERGE OF CIVIL WAR. THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER. URGENT APPEAL OF THE FOUNDATION FRANCESCA RAVA N.P.H. ITALY TO HELP FATHER RICK FRECHETTE, DOCTOR IN THE FIRST LINE, LEADER OF N.P.H HAITI AND OF THE FOUNDATION SAINT LUC, IN RELIEF TO THE PEOPLE OF PORT AU PRINCE.

Challenge

Violent clashes in Haiti due to harsh protests against the Government. The situation is becoming dramatic and the country is in an emergency. There are already several deaths on the streets of Port-au-Prince. With the riots expanding, the fuel price increase is creating an escalation of tension. NPH and the Saint Luc Foundation's team are helping the population by distributing water with tanker trucks, bean bags and rice because supplies are scarce and the population is on the verge of revolt.

Long-Term Impact

The daily presence of NPH and St Luc trucks in the streets of Port au Prince will have a positive impact on the population. Families need to be reassured that in spite of the lack of attention they receive from the government, their basic survival vital needs are satisfied. This will help avoid violence and re-establish a normality of some sorts. It is urgent to buy a new water truck to reach more areas of the city and suburbs.
