This project aims to form a partnership with Mogbencha community and will address several critical areas. The project activities will address water, sanitation, gender inequality, and health. It will also train young people, hold educational workshops and help the residents to form committees and structures to ensure community ownership and that changes are sustainable, long-lasting and create meaningful impact.

Challenge

Mogbencha community is extremely remote and receives no support from government or any other NGO's. As a result, people have no access to safe drinking water or anywhere to go to the bathroom. Malnutrition is extremely prevalent, especially among women and children, and gender inequality is so widespread that most women and girls can't go to school or work. Disease is common, especially from the water and there is no access to healthcare.

Long-Term Impact

These structures will give the community the tools to have long-term access to safe water and sanitation facilities, thus decreasing disease. The women-led market gardens will empower women socially and financially whilst tackling malnutrition. Training will empower residents with valuable knowledge which will benefit the entire community. Establishing a saving scheme and committees will allow the community to plan for the future, invest in themselves and ensure long lasting impact.
