RWAYDAVO is implementing a goat farming project in Burega village, Rwanda. The community came together and identified the following as needs they wanted to address: lack of fertile soil, lack of sources of manure production, low harvest yields, malnutrition and lack of income-generating activities to support agriculture. They decided that goat farming will help them to address each of these community priorities. RWAYDAVO plan to provide goats to 200 families who are in critical need of support.

Challenge

This project will address the problems of food insecurity, limited awareness to better farming methods, declining soil fertility, poor nutrition among mothers and thier children, Limited accessibility to improved planting materials ,the high poverty levels. Goat farming will help them to address each of these community priorities. The goat kids will be distributed to others in the community to impact more households' agricultural yields and income.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact will improve standard of living and recognition of indigenous people role and contribution in poverty reducing efforts in the community. The project will promote relationships between Local autonomous civil society organizations and the government as we shall be contributing to government effort and programmes of prosperity for all.
