The Global Refugee Fund will enable IsraAID to respond effectively and holistically to today's global refugee crisis. With 65.6 million people forcibly displaced from their homes and 22.5 million refugees, this is the largest humanitarian disaster of our generation. This urgent fund ensures our teams' rapid response to emergencies and enables us to deal with both the immediate and longer-term practical and mental-health challenges facing refugee populations.

Challenge

Today, we are witnessing the highest number of refugees and displaced people ever. The figures are devastating. 65.6 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and there are 22.5 million refugees of which 51% are children. Despite the shift in media attention, the Middle East and East Africa refugee crises remain desperately urgent, with thousands fleeing brutal conflict daily. This is an unprecedented global emergency that demands our attention today and tomorrow.

Long-Term Impact

Although refugees have urgent needs like access to clean water and medical care, there are many long-term issues associated with forced displacement, 'temporary' shelter and resettlement. This fund will support programs which focus on short and long-term needs of affected populations, like our Water Management Training which gives refugees in East Africa livelihood prospects and access to water. These build refugees' capacity to process the past, deal with the present and build a new future.
