Global climate change has drastically impacted the lives of people around the world, and rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions threaten irreversible consequences to the Earth's climate systems. With the future of our planet at stake, the time for action is now.
Challenge
Human activities including pollution, overpopulation, and unsustainable agricultural practices have played a pivotal role in our planet's shifting climate patterns. Natural disasters closely tied to climate change such as cyclones, tsunamis, and floods have increased in scale and frequency. More than 1 million species of plants and animals are at risk of extinction, threatening the stability of global ecosystems. In order to restore and protect nature, transformative action is needed.
Long-Term Impact
With enough technological innovation and political willpower, it is still possible to protect our planet by limiting the increase in global mean temperature to two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. But it cannot and - importantly - should not be done in isolation. Supporting local conservation efforts in areas most threatened by climate change is imperative if we are to preserve the Earth's future.
