Following the success of Glad's House Kenya "Football Extravaganza" back in 2007, it is our aspiration to run another event in Aug 23 to help reignite, not only the GHK football programme in Mombasa but all our sports programmes, which have suffered greatly following the challenges and restrictions of the past few years. We aim to use this event as a catalyst to create a sustainable sports programme for the local community and more importantly the "Street Children and Young People of Mombasa".
Challenge
Most children and youth have the interest to participate in productive sports, however there are limited resources for the same. The children and youth in the community face a lot of risks. There are less recreational facilities and so most of them end up making wrong choices. They start to indulge in unhealthy activities including abuse of drugs.
Long-Term Impact
Around 100 youth will benefit from the project through a long term football program, including both sporting and social skills creating positive interactions and unlock more potential in each individual.
