Everyone deserves access to nourishing food that allows them to lead healthy lives, and that's why we need your support this holiday season. The unfortunate reality is that many people in our local communities are coping with food insecurity. Your support helps us to connect individuals and families with immediate food resources, increase access to short-term support, and drive positive lasting change on a legislative level.
Challenge
1 in 10 households nationally lack sufficient food to feed their families, and food insecurity is even more prevalent in Philadelphia where 4% more people lack the food they need compared to the national average. Members of traditionally marginalized communities are especially susceptible to food insecurity and include BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ identifying people, and immigrants. This project allows us to connect over 125,000 people in our local communities annually with vital food resources.
Long-Term Impact
The Coalition Against Hunger will support over 125,000 individuals with connection to immediate food resources, applications for short-term SNAP food benefits, resource sharing with a network of local pantries, community education through events and partnerships, and legislative advocacy that aims to build food security across the Philadelphia region and nationally.
