This project will train volunteers to test water for bacterial contamination. We will also supply 1000 families in Latin America with Water Pasteurization Indicators (WAPI's) and help them build safe cooking stoves.

Challenge

A million children world wide die each year from contaminated drinking water, and many more are made ill with diarrheal diseases, preventing them from growing, attending school or helping their families. Families often must drink contaminated water because they lack alternatives or the means to make their water safe.

Long-Term Impact

Our goal this year is to help 1000 families in Latin America by providing them with water testing and Water Pasteurization indicators (WAPI's). They will also be helped to obtain safe cooking stoves. These thousand families are part of a long term program to improve the health and reduce deaths and injuries to children and families and to help them to attend school and to be healthy.
