This project will construct a borehole with motorized pump at Ibadan slum in western Nigeria. This will prevent diseases outbreak, prevent community spread of COVID19 through effective hand washing and improved personal hygiene, equally empower the poor villagers who are predominantly farmers and palm oil producers by providing a sustainable clean water source.

Challenge

Lack of access to clean water has been ravaging the dwellers of Korukoru village in Akinyele local government area of Oyo state Ibadan Nigeria. They survive on water stored during raining season. But generally depend on water drawn from a stagnant muddy water collection situated in a swampy forest about a kilometer away. Women and children are exposed to injuries; bite from dangerous animals and, the health of the entire villagers at stake. Risk of community spread of COVID19 also increases.

Long-Term Impact

The entire community will remain healthy as a result of clean and potable water, improved hygiene will prevent community spread of COVID19. Farmers will have water for irrigation to increase their yield. Palm oil production capacity will be expanded and thus, more income.
