More than 1000 people have lost their lives whereas 365 just died in Sindh and millions have lost their houses. according to surveys 130 districts of Pakistan are affected by these floods. Primary Education Project Diocese of Hyderabad has identified 3500 families whose children are in 104 schools. PEP-DoH has raised 2500 packages having food and non-food items. PEP-DoH would like to submit 1000 more packages for these families from our global giving family.

Challenge

The humanitarian situation in Pakistan has deteriorated further over the past two weeks as heavy rains continue to cause flooding, and landslides resulting in displacement and damage across the country. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) report till 26 August 2022, 116 districts affected, including 66 districts officially declared 'calamity hit'. At least 1043 people killed and 1,343 people injured since 14 June. Rainfall nationwide is 2.87 times higher than the past.

Long-Term Impact

Standing water can be the major cause of many waterborne diseases like malaria and dengue fever so the immediate supply of mosquito nets will reduce the risk of contracting these diseases. The provision of food packages enables the 1000 affected families to the urgent supply of at least one-month food items e.g. flour, rice, cooking oil, pulses, tea, and sugar.
