Linked Problems & Solutions

A house is not just shelter; it is a home with its own story. In the Gaza Strip, one of the world's most densely populated areas, thousands of homes are of marginal construction with poor roofing & sanitation. Privacy is an unmet need with no proper separation between genders & no space for children to study. 20 families ask your help to finish their homes & add an additional room upstairs. Inclusive architectural design and construction will give voice to the soul of each home: its family.
Challenge
Overcrowding is linked to many social and health issues including domestic violence, a lack of education, and unhygienic conditions. Land upon which to construct homes in Gaza is limited, necessitating costly vertical building additions. Without skilled labor, construction often falls short of basic building code and safety standards. The illegal Israeli blockade compounds these problems as construction materials and jobs are lacking, resulting in extreme poverty. Yet there is a way forward.
Long-Term Impact
Rehabilitating 20 homes in Gaza is just the start to what will hopefully be inclusive architecture & rebuilding on a growing scale to revitalise hundreds of thousands of barely livable homes. The U.N.'s 2021 humanitarian needs summary verified that Palestinians in Gaza are especially vulnerable & need better access to basic services, including water, sanitation and hygiene & adequate shelter. Your support to revitalize these 20 homes will open a new way for Gaza families to realize their dreams.
