When you financially empower a parent, you set the family on a self sustaining path to economic growth and poverty eradication. Early intervention stabilizes vulnerable families and enables the caregiver to feed and clothe their children, and send them to school. Macheo helps develop an intervention plan, including education seminars, counseling support, economic empowerment, to start up their own business. Those families receive a one-time donation and intensive coaching to create success.
Challenge
In the Urban slums there is extreme poverty, due to joblessness and lack of opportunity, having a long-term effect on the lives of children. Limited access to safe capital is a significant barrier for people - especially women, trying to lift their families out of poverty. Women have less access to resources, knowledge and work, while simultaneously bearing full responsibility. Macheo primarily support parents to become better caregivers and to allow opportunities for small business development.
Long-Term Impact
Macheo aims to help 250 families mitigate issues that have led to family poverty. A range of interventions from education seminars, counseling support, funds to start up a small business and home visits to support families in reaching their goals. By enabling parents to be micro-retailers, Macheo helps them to afford, care for and provide for their children. Improving families one at a time, lifts the economy of the community and acts as a guide to others.
