Currently, a large number of young women and girls in semi-urban and rural areas support their family incomes by managing a combination of small and micro-enterprises. However, they don't have the required skills to sustain them. The 50 women in Rajasthan, who will receive support belong to extremely resource poor backgrounds, have always been left behind due to their gender, and have the determination to become independent and self-sufficient. Your support will help them build these skills.
Challenge
Women in India have historically faced constraints in engaging in economic activities because of gender-based discrimination, disproportionate involvement in unpaid work, and unequal access to education, healthcare and financial services. Your support will help women in Rajasthan to become entrepreneurs through an intensive six-month training program focused on rural sales and marketing, and provide them with handholding support to start their own ventures.
Long-Term Impact
The project will train 50 women to start their own ventures. This will provide women and their households with an additional source of income. The women will be able to make a profit of $600-$730 annually. It will also enable them to be self-sufficient, have more decision making power and earn a livelihood with dignity. With every donation you make, these women will move a step closer towards a brighter future.
