Moyo believes that Education and Healthcare play key roles in fostering sustainable development and women's empowerment. This project will support pastoralist Samburu and Pokot communities in the North-Western corner of Laikipia - Kenya by providing healthcare access to remote areas and the opportunity to attend education at both primary and secondary level. By improving healthcare and providing access to education we can help shape a brighter future for those in dire need of help.

Challenge

Lack of health facilities, education, and stable income lead to an increase in poverty and environmental degradation. In the North-West corner of Laikipia the rate of girls not finishing primary education is 70% while teen pregnancy stands at 45%. 55% of boys don't manage to finish primary school due to lack of funding which leads them to become herders and grow illiterate. Healthcare is also a significant issue as 85% of the community does not have access to facilities.

Long-Term Impact

This project will provide support to over 3,000 individuals. Education is the strongest weapon one can have. Children will be able to complete their schooling, thus becoming empowered to make changes in their communities and shape a better future. Outreaches will improve the general health of community members alongside providing menstrual, nutritional, and sexual education; allowing for improved living standards and basis for further sustainable development.
