Many students living in poverty may stop going to school, so they can work to help their parents and provide foods for their families, which leaves them without literacy and numeracy skills they need to further their careers. YKIP plans to provide a 3-year scholarship for 25 children in Bali who come from impoverish family to graduate from senior high school. The scholarship cost will include school fees, uniform, school supplies, daily allowances, and a workshop.

Challenge

More than 3,79% of people in Bali earn less than $1 a day. Often it's difficult to get enough money together to cover food and rent. School, especially high school, will give more burden to the family. Most of the time, children who are finished their junior high school discontinue their schooling and need to work to support their families. Especially in the pandemic situation, more students are exposed to the risk of dropping out of school. The scholarship will keep them at school to study.

Long-Term Impact

The project will support 25 students in Bali within 3 years to complete their 12-year education and graduate from senior high school, allowing them to rise out of poverty and improve their families' health and well-being.
